The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 256 wraps of cocaine weighing six kilograms at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.

The suspect, Olisaka Chibuzo Calistus, a businessman involved in import/export, was arrested on December 15, 2024, during passenger clearance on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 from Abidjan via Addis Ababa.

This marks the largest cocaine seizure in the airport’s history.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed the arrest, noting the cocaine was concealed in the suspect’s body.

The operation reflects the agency’s intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking across Nigeria, with the suspect now facing legal action.

This seizure is part of broader nationwide efforts by the NDLEA, which recently recovered large quantities of tramadol, codeine syrup, cannabis, and other substances in Lagos, Anambra, and Borno states.

These operations are key to the agency’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative, aimed at dismantling drug networks and raising awareness about drug abuse.

The NDLEA has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and ensuring public safety while urging citizens to report suspicious activities.
