The Bauchi State Government has initiated the distribution of essential educational resources, including books, chalks, blackboards, Mu Karanta textbooks, digital tablets, and other materials, in partnership with Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA). The distribution was officially launched at the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) headquarters in Bauchi.

During the flag-off ceremony, Adamu Duguri, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, called on Education Secretaries from the state’s 20 Local Government Education Authorities and stakeholders to ensure the proper use of these resources. He emphasized, “The distribution and effective use of these resources are essential for improving the quality of education in the state. SUBEB will not take lightly any case of diversion, misappropriation, or misuse of the materials.” Duguri warned that any individual found selling or diverting these government-purchased items, along with any complicit buyers, would face legal consequences.

To promote accountability, Duguri urged the formation of a dedicated monitoring committee within SUBEB to oversee the distribution and utilization of the materials across all levels. He also acknowledged the role of traditional rulers in strengthening the education system, calling for their continued support in ensuring the success of the distribution.

Duguri expressed gratitude to development partners, including the World Bank through BESDA, USAID, LEARN to READ, UNICEF, and others, whose ongoing contributions are instrumental in bolstering the state’s basic education sector.

Nura Ahmad, the State Focal Officer for BESDA, highlighted that this distribution marks the final batch and called on education secretaries to ensure that the materials reach their intended schools. He acknowledged the state government’s support for BESDA’s goals, emphasizing the significance of their collaboration in achieving educational improvements.

This distribution drive, backed by BESDA and international development partners, reflects Bauchi State’s commitment to enhancing educational access and quality, ensuring that students and teachers receive the tools necessary for effective learning.
