“Bauchi Governor Champions Green Skills and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development on International Youth Day”

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, emphasized the essential role of education in equipping young people with the skills and knowledge needed for sustainable development. Addressing youth groups at the Government House in Bauchi, in commemoration of International Youth Day, Governor Mohammed—represented by Deputy Governor Rt Hon Auwal Jatau—highlighted his administration’s commitment to incorporating sustainability and green skills within educational curricula to prepare young people for leadership roles.

Governor Mohammed underscored the importance of empowering youth and women through platforms for meaningful dialogue, affirming his administration’s significant investments in education, including extensive school renovations, aimed at restoring educational quality across Bauchi State. He lauded the day’s theme, “Green Skills for Youth: Towards A Sustainable World,” as a critical reminder of the need for young people to contribute to environmentally friendly practices that support long-term economic and social growth.

The Governor noted that Bauchi’s youth are pivotal in addressing pressing environmental issues like climate change, pollution, and deforestation. He urged them to acquire green skills that will help mitigate human impacts on the environment, applauding Hajiya Hauwa Hassan Musa and her team from the Nigerian Youth Parliament for organizing the event. He also encouraged collaboration between the private sector and civil organizations to offer youth opportunities for skill development in green and sustainable fields.

Additionally, Governor Mohammed highlighted his administration’s commitment to youth engagement by appointing young individuals to key governmental roles, fostering inclusivity and reducing the risk of social vices. Expressing appreciation for these opportunities, Hajiya Hauwa pledged continued support from the Nigerian Youth Parliament to the Governor’s administration for enhanced governance and service delivery.
