Bandits Attack Commercial Vehicle in Katsina, One Dead, Four Injured, 14 Rescued

Bandits launched an attack on a commercial vehicle along the Jibia-Katsina Road in Katsina State on Sunday, killing one passenger and injuring four others. The attack occurred near Dan Arau village, close to Magama town in Jibia Local Government Area.

According to local sources, the bandits opened fire on the vehicle, aiming to abduct the passengers. However, a swift response by joint military forces forced the assailants to flee, abandoning their victims. The injured and the deceased were promptly evacuated to Jibia General Hospital.

A source stated, “The bandits attacked the vehicle as it traveled from Jibia Market, shooting five passengers. Unfortunately, one person died on the spot, while four others sustained gunshot injuries.”

The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident, stating, “Fourteen victims were rescued, one person tragically lost their life, and investigations are ongoing.” The security forces were commended for their prompt intervention, which averted further casualties and rescued those abducted.
