Nigerian Afrobeats stars Asake and Ayra Starr have been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards. Both artists are contenders in the Best International Act category, alongside global icons such as Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, and Kendrick Lamar. The nominations underscore their growing international appeal and influence.

In addition to their nominations in the international category, Asake and Ayra Starr feature in the Best African Music Act category, joined by fellow Nigerian talents Odumodublvck, Rema, Shallipopi, and others. South African artists Tyla and Uncle Waffles also secured nominations in the same category, reflecting the increasing global recognition of African music.

The MOBO Awards shortlist for 2025, released on Wednesday, highlights the diversity and richness of Black-origin music across genres and regions.
