The Art Hotel Polo Team, featuring Nigerian team leader Neku Edun, Sadiq Dantata, Mexico’s J.J Alba, and Argentina’s Genaro Ringa, has made its debut in the Lagos Polo Tournament Open Cup. This marks the team’s first appearance in a competitive polo event, where they face seasoned opponents.
Tunji Abdul, Managing Director of Art Hotel, expressed the company’s commitment to community engagement and expanding cultural experiences. “We’re thrilled to sponsor the Art Hotel Polo Team in the 2023 NPA Lagos International Polo Tournament. Our vision at Art Hotel goes beyond traditional art; we see the visually competitive nature of polo as an extension of art, shaping culture locally and internationally. We look forward to supporting more teams and tournaments in the future.”
Despite a first-game loss to Trojan Hawk, the team aims to bounce back against STC Shoreline. Edun commented, “It’s a learning experience as it’s our first tournament. We’re up against experienced teams, but we’re grateful to have assembled this team and hope to keep it for future tournaments.”
The team has been adjusting to new horses and analyzing game footage to refine their strategy. “We need to anticipate better and stay resilient,” Edun noted. Teammates Alba and Ringa thanked Art Hotel and the local community, expressing their appreciation for Nigeria’s hospitality and cuisine.
