Ahmadi Muslims want FG to adopt all-encompassing governance in order to improve the lot of Nigerians in 2022.
The Federal Government (FG) has been cautioned by THE Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria to view the year 2022 as a chance to provide Nigerians with a better deal by implementing corporate and comprehensive governance and upholding equality and justice for everyone.
This comes at the same time that the Jama’at praised Nigerians for their “indomitable spirit” and fortitude in the face of enormous obstacles in the socioeconomic, political, and technological domains.
The organization noted that, similar to 2020, 2021 was difficult for Nigerians in a New Year’s letter that was signed by its Amir (National Head), Alhaj AbdulAzeez Alatoye.
It also lamented that high level of poverty and unemployment remained a serious challenge to Nigerians in spite of abundance of human and material resources in the country.
The statement reads in part: “The entire members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria heartily rejoice with Nigerians and the government on the occasion of the new year 2022 that just started.
“Just like the year 2020, the year 2021 was also a challenging one for the country, no thanks to the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic, especially with the discovery of Omicron variant.
“We applaud the government’s and the medical institutes’ efforts to contain the pandemic. In order to further halt the spread of the OMICRON Variant, the general public is further asked to follow all COVID-19 regulations.
The Jama’at also acknowledges and salutes Nigerians’ unwavering spirit of survival and fortitude in the face of enormous obstacles in the socioeconomic, political, and technological domains.
Islam forbids all forms of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, ritualistic murdering of people, exploitation of any type, and immoral behavior toward one another. It is urgent that the government take a more aggressive approach to eradicating the social vices that are now commonplace in the nation.
Despite having a wealth of material and human resources at our disposal, Nigerians continue to face significant obstacles due to the high rates of poverty, unemployment, and underemployment.
All tiers of government have a duty to ensure that the public has access to reasonably priced food, medical care, shelter, security, and a reliable transportation system.
Nigerians should maintain their faith in the current administration and lend their support through good deeds and prayers. They ought to be conscious of their civic duties as well.
“The Nigerian Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at also uses this platform to criticize the government of Nigeria about corporate and comprehensive governance, upholding equality and justice, and fair play.
“No area ought to be isolated or deprived of its legitimate requirements. Without a doubt, this measure will advance the nation and promote peaceful cohabitation.
“Everyone should be treated fairly. To try to settle any disputes amicably, leaders of all agitators should be asked to a meeting. Government is encouraged to reject nepotism, religious bigotry, among other problems.
“The Jama’at hereby advises the President, General Muhammad Buhari GCFR, to ensure a smooth election exercise at all levels as the general elections of 2023 approach.”
“All required infrastructure needs to be established in order to have free and fair elections. Every political party needs to work out its divisions within. Politics is not a do-or-die situation; rather, it should be viewed as a game of numbers.
“No qualified voter should be denied the right to vote. Nigerians must be free to carry out their civic responsibilities without being harassed in any way. Malpractices in elections must be completely eradicated. The government needs to make sure that the necessary electoral reforms are formally enacted.
“Religious organizations have a crucial role to play in realizing our ideal nation. Religious authorities ought to keep advocating for harmony and peace. Religious institutions ought to be hallowed spaces free from social vices and where followers are thoroughly educated about the real values.
“We sincerely pray for a new order and many more prosperous years for Nigeria in the future.”
