Adaramodu: I have volunteered to lead Ekiti’s turnaround in 2022.

Odundun

Mr. Kayode Adaramodu, a prominent PDP candidate for governor of Ekiti State, has stated that he committed to run in the June 18 election in order to facilitate the state’s growth and change.

The former head of Guarantee Trust Bank stated that he had researched and recognized the problems the state was facing in the past few years, and he was confident that, with his extensive background in the private sector, he could meet the demands of the situation.

In an interview with reporters on Friday in the state capital of Ado-Ekiti, Adaramodu said that, given his background and the resounding backing of party members, he would be running in the PDP primary election on January 26 in order to win.

He stated, “I have offered to lead this change and new direction in Ekiti beginning with the 2022 governorship election. I have a thorough awareness of the issues facing our people and am not a newbie to Ekiti politics.

“As I look forward to a time when the average Ekiti man and woman would have the opportunity to develop and maximize their respective potentials without hindrance or let, when social demarcations and economic gaps would thin out or fade away, and when basic amenities of life would no longer be luxuries to our people, that is the beauty of my vision for Ekiti right now. Although it appears far off, this is a lofty desire, and I am confident that it is possible.

“Somethings have to give way and some people have to stand up to be counted in order for all of this to occur. As long as we keep going in the same direction and provide the stage and space to those who have brought us this far and other political pretenders, nothing will change.

He revealed that in an attempt to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the national leadership of the party has been holding meetings with candidates and other interested parties before to the primaries. They have expressed hope that the party will be stronger and more cohesive following the shadow election.

He states that he is worried about the interests of the Ekiti people, not his own, and that it is possible that the party and stakeholders will choose a consensus candidate for the primary.

But he urged the party to back a candidate from the southern senatorial district in the spirit of justice and fairness, arguing that this would increase the opposition party’s chances in the poll.

“I’m running from Ekiti to win, not because I’m from the South. However, I believe it is only right that the next governor come from the South, and we have informed the leadership of this, hoping they will take it into consideration.

“If we work together, my party can win the June 18 governorship election. An individual cannot win the election by themselves. It will be challenging to overthrow the ruling APC without unity of purpose and cohesiveness in our group.

Thus, even before I announced my interest in the party, I had begun speaking with and pleading with the two gladiators because I understood the need of togetherness.
