The Adamawa State Police Command announced on Monday that its operatives had killed a notorious kidnap kingpin during a raid in Ngurore, Yola-South Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police, in collaboration with critical stakeholders and local security outfits, carried out a raid on a known kidnappers’ hideout in the area.

    • Upon spotting the armed kidnappers, the police team faced resistance as the suspects opened fire.
    • During the ensuing gun battle, one of the kidnappers was killed, while the others managed to escape.
    • An AK-47 rifle with five rounds of live ammunition was recovered from the scene.

Nguroje stated:

“The Adamawa State Police Command, in collaboration with its critical stakeholders and local security outfits, has reactivated its internal control mechanism to prevent kidnapping activities and promote decency in the state.

“The Command coordinated a raid on a kidnappers’ hideout along Ngurore in Yola South. The criminals, armed with offensive weapons, attempted to resist arrest by opening fire, but our gallant men returned fire, neutralizing one suspect while others fled.”

Commissioner’s Commendation

The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, praised the bravery and tactical efficiency of the officers involved in the operation.

He emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration with local communities and security stakeholders to eradicate criminal elements from the state.
