Hudson Meek, a young actor known for his roles in the 2017 film Baby Driver and the preschool series Badanamu Stories, has passed away at the age of 16 following a tragic accident in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
The Accident and Investigation
According to the Jefferson County coroner’s office, Meek sustained severe blunt force injuries after falling from a moving vehicle on the evening of December 19, 2024. He was rushed to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital but succumbed to his injuries two days later.
The Vestavia Hills Police Department has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. While no official statements have been released by the police, the coroner’s office confirmed that inquiries are ongoing.
A Legacy of Talent and Impact
Meek’s family announced his passing on Instagram, describing the loss as sudden and heartbreaking.
“His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met,” the family wrote.
In his acting career, Meek played a younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character in Baby Driver and appeared in popular TV series such as the CW’s Legacies, Hulu’s Genius, and NBC’s Found. His family revealed that some of his projects are still set for release in 2025.
Beyond acting, Meek’s vibrant personality and diverse interests left a mark on everyone he encountered.
Life Beyond the Spotlight
An Alabama resident and sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, Meek was an active participant in his school community. He played for the Vestavia Hills Rebel football team, sang in the honor choir, and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Meek’s love for adventure was evident in his hobbies. He became a certified open water scuba diver at the age of 13 and earned an advanced certification that same year. He visited all 50 U.S. states and aspired to explore all seven continents.
“Hudson’s personality was one of a kind. He was confident, convicted in his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted,” his family shared in his obituary. Known for his humor and love of pranks, Meek cherished making others laugh and creating joyful memories.

Meek was also deeply rooted in his faith, actively participating in youth events at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. His family takes comfort in knowing that his decision to be an organ donor will allow him to help others even after his passing.

Hudson Meek is survived by his parents, Derek Firth Meek and Lani Wells Meek, his older brother, Tucker Firth Meek, his grandmothers, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
