The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged Governor Alex Otti to provide evidence supporting his recent claim of disbursing N90 billion to settle contract debts allegedly incurred by previous PDP-led administrations.
In an open letter from the new state chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, dated November 8, 2024, the PDP stated it is unaware of such substantial debts left by past PDP governments and called for detailed records as proof. The letter, obtained by South-East PUNCH, expressed concern over the claimed debt repayment, questioning the documentation, due process, and overall transparency behind the disbursement.
“It would serve Abians if you provide evidence to support this claim,” the letter reads, urging Governor Otti to disclose the beneficiaries—individuals and companies—of these payments, stating that transparency is essential for fostering public trust in the administration.
The PDP also raised concerns regarding allegations that an additional N90 billion may have enriched Signature Bank, demanding clarity and accountability to prevent any erosion of public confidence in state leadership. The letter concluded by calling on Governor Otti to uphold transparency, fulfill his administration’s pledges, and provide reassurance to the citizens of Abia State.
