The Participant Mr. Dennis Idahosa (APC), who represents Edo State’s Ovia Federal Constituency, has encouraged politicians to stop scheming with initiatives aimed at raising the general public’s standard of living.
The legislator leveled the accusation in response to a claim made by Omosede Igbinedion, a PDP candidate in the Ovia Federal Constituency for the general election of 2023, that she had control over the construction of the Ogbese bridge.
According to Idahisa, the purpose of projects was not to purchase votes, but rather to improve economic prosperity and further the growth of the state or community they benefited.
He pointed out that it was ridiculous for a former MP to claim ownership of a project that was developed and put into action during the 2022 budget cycle after leaving office more than four years ago.
How is it feasible that she was able to secure the project in the 2022 budget when we have had more than four budget cycles since her departure from the company?
Had it not been for the fact that this is not the first time, I probably would not have replied or discussed it.
“In my opinion, it is improper to always use initiatives as political arenas. Projects are intended to improve people’s quality of life, not to buy votes.
“To dispel any question, the aforementioned bridge has been in a terrible condition for many years, and I had to take the initiative to ensure that the years of suffering caused by the bridge’s poor condition would come to an end for the affected individuals.
“Last weekend, the bridge construction began, which I pushed for inclusion in the 2022 budget. I will ensure that the project is completed on schedule and in compliance with specifications,” Idahosa said.
When the bridge is finished, Idahosa said, it will stimulate the local economies as well as that of the state and the nation as a whole.
According to the lawmaker, drivers can use the bridge as an alternate route between the states of Ondo and Edo.
