The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a 65-year-old man, Olalekan Ogunjobi, following the mysterious death of a woman, Serifatu Disu, who was found lifeless in his apartment. The incident occurred in Fatima Castle, Konigba, located in the Ago-Iwoye area of Ogun State.

Circumstances Leading to the Incident

Reports indicate that Disu, a 60-year-old married woman, had left her husband’s home to visit Ogunjobi at his residence late Tuesday night. Although the nature of their relationship remains unclear, Ogunjobi told police that Disu began complaining of chest pain around 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to Ogunjobi, she stepped outside his room after expressing discomfort but collapsed shortly after. Despite his attempts to administer first aid, Disu lost consciousness and was pronounced dead.

Police Response and Investigation

The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Iwoye, who immediately visited the scene. Chief Superintendent of Police Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed Ogunjobi’s arrest and the launch of an investigation into the matter.

“Ogunjobi informed the police that Disu left her husband’s house to visit him and complained of chest pain before collapsing outside his room,” Odutola explained. “Despite efforts to revive her, she did not regain consciousness. The Crime Branch of the Ago-Iwoye Division has commenced preliminary investigations, and Ogunjobi is in custody for further questioning.”

Autopsy to Determine Cause of Death

The police confirmed that Disu’s body has been transferred to the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, where it will undergo an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Officers have visited the scene, and evidence is being gathered as part of the ongoing investigation.

“The body was moved to the Ijebu-Ode Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” Odutola added.

Similar Incidents in Ogun State

The case draws parallels with another incident in Ogun State earlier this month. On December 3, a 22-year-old man, Joseph Prince, was arrested after his girlfriend, Agala Peace, also 22, died under mysterious circumstances in the Ota area.

Prince claimed he was transporting Peace to the hospital when she passed away. The police detained him as part of their investigation into her sudden death.
