Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transportation and an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, pledged on Monday to use his prior expertise to address the security concerns facing the country and revive its economy.
Ameachi promised to use his vast knowledge to secure the nation and advance the economy when he made this statement during his visit to Ondo State to solicit the support of APC delegates.
He insisted that, of all the party’s presidential contenders, he still possesses the greatest experience and promised to end the country’s insecurity by using the same strategies that put an end to abduction and militancy in Rivers State.
“The militancy in Rivers State stopped less than a year after I took office as governor. The reason for this was that every time there was militancy, the federal government reduced our revenue, forcing us to look for other sources of funding in order to develop the state and put an end to kidnapping and other crimes.
I am not the person they will train since I already know the answer to the long-term problem of insecurity in my state. In addition, I’m still learning about ways to put an end to insecurity in our beloved nation.
“I’m going to provide the security issue with all the support it needs to safeguard the country. I also think we can find a long-term solution to insecurity if we expand the economy and strengthen our security framework. I have contributed to the progress of this nation and I shall keep doing so.
This time, your vote matters. We are in Akure to ask for your support not only for the general elections but also for our victory in the primary, which will grant us the right to run as party candidates. After we cast our ballots in the general election, the traditional rulers will be assigned a role under the constitution.
Segregation will not exist, I swear, and we will advance this nation. Take our railway, for example, which is visible.
“I would want to inform you that Akure was not a part of the railway project before to my arrival as a minister. Akure informed me that they desired a seaport, and I responded that there was no issue as long as you had access to our facilities, which is to grant you a license.
“We need to support the candidate who will ensure the continued progress of the railway project; if we support the wrong candidate, the project will be abandoned. You have my vote if Akure wants the railway project to proceed as politics is about interests.
