A fresh controversy has erupted in the Nwoko household as reports emerge that Senator Ned Nwoko allegedly ordered the arrest of his mother-in-law, veteran Nollywood actress and producer, Rita Daniels.

According to sources close to the family, the move follows ongoing domestic tension between Nwoko and his wife, Regina Daniels, who recently took to social media to accuse the lawmaker of targeting her family members.

Background to the Dispute

The crisis between the couple became public earlier this week after Regina Daniels shared a series of emotional posts on Instagram, alleging that her husband was using his influence to detain her siblings. She claimed her elder brother and sister had been arrested and that her younger sister was next in line unless she returned to the marriage and agreed to “rehabilitation.”

In one of her posts, the actress wrote, “Someone please help me. I feel like I’m losing my mind. Leave my family alone, Ned! Leave me alone too. It is obvious it’s war.”

The actress also accused Nwoko of labeling her a drug addict and a prostitute—allegations she strongly denied.

Rita Daniels Reacts

In a video that surfaced online, Rita Daniels criticised the senator, alleging that he exploited her daughter’s fame for personal and political gain. She claimed Regina had contributed financially to Nwoko’s senatorial campaign and accused him of turning against the same family that once supported him.

“You wanted someone with a high star so they could boost your own falling star. Regina gave you $50,000 for your campaign, and this is how you repay her,” Rita stated.

She further questioned the senator’s public image, asking, “Are Ned Nwoko’s children looking like the children of a billionaire?”

Regina Defends Her Mother

Regina Daniels later appealed to the public to stop criticising her mother, clarifying that Rita Daniels had advised her against the marriage but respected her decision.

“My mum never forced me into marriage. I was in love, and I stood my ground. She only wanted what was best for me,” Regina said in a video posted on her Instagram account.

She also dismissed claims that she married Nwoko out of greed, insisting her family was financially stable before the union.
