The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has strongly criticised the physical confrontation between social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, and comedian Mr Jollof (Freedom Atsepoyi), during an Asaba-to-Lagos flight on Monday.
The aviation regulator says both men will face consequences for their conduct.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, expressed outrage in a post on 𝕏, describing the clash as behaviour that endangered “passengers, crew, and the aircraft itself.”
He stated that the authority maintains zero tolerance for unruly or violent actions aboard any aircraft, stressing that both individuals will be dealt with in accordance with aviation laws.
Achimugu noted the irony that the two men, who frequently preach responsible behaviour to millions of followers, were themselves involved in an incident that violated aviation safety rules.
“It becomes even more embarrassing when you consider that both individuals publicly advocate against unruly conduct,” he said.
According to the NCAA, the disruption breached multiple safety protocols and the airline is required to file a full report for regulatory action.
“The behaviour of both men jeopardised the safety of everyone on board. It also compromised the security of the aircraft,” Achimugu added.
The aviation authority reiterated that no personal feud, online conflict, or provocation justifies violence inside an aircraft environment.
It emphasised that the NCAA has repeatedly warned passengers about the dangers and legal consequences of disorderly behaviour in flight.
Reports indicate the scuffle stemmed from a long-running social media rivalry. The argument quickly turned physical after boarding, prompting other passengers and cabin crew to intervene as tension spread through the cabin.
Shortly after the incident, Verydarkman boasted on Facebook about the altercation, writing: “I don chop Jollof father for inside plane. He bite me, man wey de bite.”

NCAA spokesperson Achimugu confirmed that the authority is still gathering reports from the airline and crew involved.
He added that a detailed statement will be issued once investigations are completed, but insisted that sanctions are guaranteed.
