Laide Bakare Slams Social Media Content Creation After Allwell Ademola’s Death

Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has criticised what she described as insensitive behaviour by some fans and colleagues in the aftermath of the death of actress and filmmaker Allwell Ademola.

Reacting via her Instagram page, Bakare expressed disappointment that the passing of the respected movie star had quickly turned into an opportunity for online engagement rather than a moment of mourning. She lamented that instead of observing a period of sobriety, many individuals appeared eager to remain active on social media, producing entertainment content shortly after the tragic news broke.

According to Bakare, she was particularly disturbed by seeing people who were reportedly close to the late actress continuing to livestream, play games, and receive virtual gifts from followers, barely a day after Allwell’s death. She described the conduct as thoughtless and hurtful, saying it showed a lack of regard for the deceased and her family.

In her emotional post, Bakare noted that while people may act carelessly online, ultimate judgment lies with God. She added that the situation left her shocked and saddened, urging those involved to reflect on their actions. She ended her message by encouraging fans to call out such behaviour, stating that accountability was necessary.

Allwell Ademola passed away on Saturday, December 27, at the age of 49. Reports indicate that she was taken to Ancilla Hospital in Agege, Lagos, where she was later confirmed dead.
