A widespread power outage has affected multiple states within the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) franchise, including Gombe, Bauchi, Benue, and Plateau, following a disruption in supply from the national grid. According to Dr. Friday Elijah, Head of Corporate Communications at JEDC, the outage began at approximately 11:28 a.m. on Thursday, leading to the shutdown of all feeders across the impacted areas.
Dr. Elijah explained, “The loss of power supply from the national grid has resulted in the shutdown of all our feeders.” Acknowledging the inconvenience to customers, he reassured them that efforts are underway to restore power. “We understand the inconvenience this has caused our valued customers and assure them that we are working diligently to restore normal power supply as soon as possible,†he stated.
Elijah called for patience and understanding from the affected communities, emphasizing JEDC’s commitment to providing reliable power once the national grid stabilizes. “We will continue to update our customers on the progress of restoration efforts,” he added, pledging to keep customers informed on developments as JEDC works to resume full service.
