The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has reportedly killed two more individuals accused of leaking information to the Nigerian military, bringing the total number of recent executions by the terror group to nine.
According to security sources, the surge in killings appears to be part of a broader internal purge as ISWAP attempts to identify and eliminate suspected informants amid growing speculation of an imminent joint US–Nigeria military operation targeting the group.
Security analyst Brant Philip confirmed the latest executions, stating that one victim was seized from his home in Dekwa, Yobe State, while the other was apprehended near Gubio in Borno State. The militants also allegedly made away with the second victim’s vehicle.
“ISWAP executed another two spies loyal to the Nigerian Army yesterday,” Philip said. “These killings, which now total nine in just a few days, strongly suggest the group is trying to root out internal leaks ahead of an expected coordinated offensive.”
In a separate incident, ISWAP fighters carried out a targeted attack in Tetiba, Yobe State, where they reportedly stormed three houses belonging to a Nigerian police officer, Officer-in-Charge Mohammed Modu.
Acting on intelligence believed to have come from local collaborators, the militants set all three houses ablaze before escaping with motorcycles and vehicles owned by the officer. No injuries or fatalities were recorded during the assault.
Philip also shared details of the raid on 𝕏, noting:
“ISWAP raided three houses in Tetiba, Yobe State—all belonging to Police O/C Mohammed Modu. Based on local intel, the terrorists burned the houses and carted away motorcycles and vehicles. Thankfully, no casualties were reported.”
The recent activities suggest heightened tension within ISWAP’s ranks as military operations in the region continue to intensify.
