Nollywood star Yul Edochie has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu, expressing deep frustration over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and economic hardship.
The actor, in a strongly worded message shared on his Facebook page, lamented that kidnapping has become a frightening daily reality in many parts of the country. According to him, bandits appear to be operating with little restraint while citizens live in constant fear.
Edochie stressed that the rising cost of living has pushed many Nigerians to the brink, noting that basic items are now beyond the reach of ordinary families.
“Dear President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he wrote, “bandits are gradually taking over the country, shedding innocent blood without consequences. Nigerians are being kidnapped in large numbers every day. Prices of goods have skyrocketed, and the suffering is unbearable. Is this the ‘renewed hope’ you promised?”
Beyond national security and economic woes, the actor also recently voiced concern over the fading use of the Igbo language among younger generations. In another Facebook post, the father of five lamented that many Igbo children can no longer communicate in their mother tongue—a situation he described as an indictment on parents and the community.
“Today,” he wrote, “many Igbo children cannot speak Igbo. It’s a failure on our part, and we must correct it moving forward.”
