INEC Extends PVC Collection in Anambra Ahead of Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

The commission said the extension became necessary following appeals from residents and stakeholders who requested more time to enable eligible voters to collect their PVCs before the November 8 poll.

According to INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Anambra, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, the PVC collection exercise, which was earlier scheduled to end on Tuesday, October 28, has now been extended until Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Dr. Agwu stated that the extension is part of INEC’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible voter is disenfranchised due to time constraints or logistical challenges.

She urged registered voters who are yet to collect their cards to take advantage of the additional days, noting that collection will continue at designated local government offices and registration area centres between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, including weekends.

“This extension demonstrates INEC’s dedication to inclusiveness and transparency in the electoral process. We encourage all registered voters who have not picked up their PVCs to do so immediately,” the REC said.

The commission also reiterated that collection of PVCs is strictly in person, as no voter will be allowed to collect another person’s card.

INEC assured that all logistical arrangements for the governorship election are on course, adding that the commission is working closely with security agencies to ensure a smooth, credible, and peaceful poll.

The Anambra governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
