The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has acknowledged receiving a formal petition from billionaire industrialist, Aliko Dangote, accusing the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, of corruption.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the anti-graft agency confirmed that it has taken delivery of the petition and assured the public that the allegations will be thoroughly examined. The statement was issued by the ICPC’s spokesperson, John Okor Odey.
According to the commission, the petition was submitted on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, through Dangote’s legal representatives and formally addressed to the Chairman of the ICPC, Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN).
“The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) confirms the receipt of a petition from Alhaji Aliko Dangote against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed. The commission wishes to inform the public that the petition will be subjected to due investigation,” the statement read.
Dangote, in the petition, accused Ahmed of corruption and financial misconduct, alleging that the NMDPRA boss has been living far beyond his legitimate earnings as a public officer. He reportedly called on the commission to arrest, investigate and prosecute Ahmed over the claims.
Central to the allegations is an accusation that Ahmed spent more than $7 million on the education of his four children in Switzerland over a six-year period, without any verifiable lawful source of income to justify such expenditure. Dangote reportedly provided detailed information in the petition, including the names of the children, the Swiss schools they attended, and the specific amounts allegedly paid for their tuition and related expenses.
