“I Didn’t Resign Over Trump’s Threats To Nigeria” – Ex-Defence Minister Badaru Speaks

Former Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has refuted a viral online report claiming he resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet over an alleged joint military strike planned by the United States and the Nigerian government.

Badaru described the circulating story as a deliberate falsehood crafted to mislead the public and tarnish his reputation.

Badaru: “The Publication Is Fake and Malicious”

The former minister said he was stunned when he came across the viral message suggesting he stepped down because he supposedly “cannot stand and watch the US and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest.”

Badaru swiftly disassociated himself from the publication, insisting that neither he nor anyone authorised to speak for him issued such a statement.

He noted that the intention behind the fabricated report was clear: to create unnecessary tension and sow distrust between him and President Tinubu.

To set the record straight, Badaru issued a detailed clarification addressing the misinformation.

Badaru’s Official Statement

In his formal response, Badaru described the viral report as “malicious, false, and baseless,” stressing that it was engineered to damage his long-standing public image and misrepresent his relationship with the President.

According to him:

* The statement did not originate from him or any authorised representative.

* The publication was crafted to tarnish his name and create friction between him and President Tinubu.

* The real reasons for his resignation had already been communicated to the President and made public through credible channels.

* Any alternative narrative suggesting an inflammatory motive was the work of mischief makers.

Badaru reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Nigeria’s security agenda, stressing that he remains committed to supporting the Renewed Hope vision.
