Laila Charani, the Moroccan-born fifth wife of Nigerian senator and businessman Ned Nwoko, has levelled serious allegations against her co-wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, accusing her of introducing her to drugs and nearly destroying her marriage six years ago.
Charani made the claims in a series of Instagram posts on Wednesday while responding to Regina Daniels’ earlier statement suggesting that she (Regina) had financially assisted her.
‘You Almost Ruined My Marriage’
In her lengthy post, Charani dismissed Regina’s claims of offering her financial help, stating that she had never received any money from the actress and was well provided for by their husband.
“How dare you say that you ever gave me money, for what exactly?” Charani wrote.
“I am very contented with the provisions my husband makes for our family. We should show Nigerians our bank accounts to see who is paying money to whose account.”
The mother of three went further to allege that Daniels introduced her to drugs six years ago — a habit she said almost cost her her marriage until Ned Nwoko intervened.
“You know too well that I almost lost my marriage when you introduced me to drugs six years ago, and it was my husband’s quick insistence on intervention that rescued me from that dark path,” she wrote.
Claims of Drug and Alcohol Addiction
Charani also accused Regina Daniels of battling drug and alcohol addiction, claiming that this is the real cause of the actress’s reported rift with their husband.
“The only reason you are fighting my husband is because he wants you to stop your drug and alcohol addiction,” Charani alleged.
“You also know that my husband completely hates alcohol, drugs, and smoking. He has always been clear that he would never accept any wife who drinks, smokes, or uses drugs.”
The Moroccan beauty claimed further that Daniels had been a “bad influence” within the household, accusing her of sharing drugs with domestic staff, nannies, and even her younger sister, Destiny.
“You have been a bad influence since you married into this family, giving drugs to nannies and workers, including your younger sister. You infected everyone with your habits,” Charani alleged.
She also stated that she no longer allows her daughters to be around Regina unsupervised, claiming she had discovered troubling behaviour.
“I will not trust my daughters around you unsupervised, especially when I found out that you were sleeping with every single girl around you,” she wrote.
Background: Nwoko Family Turmoil
The explosive accusations come amid escalating tensions in the Nwoko household.
Senator Ned Nwoko, who is married to multiple wives, has recently been at the centre of public controversy following allegations and counterclaims between him and Regina Daniels, his most popular wife.
Earlier reports suggested that the couple’s marriage had hit a rough patch, with Regina alleging mistreatment and emotional abuse, while the senator reportedly accused her of substance abuse — claims she has since denied.
Laila Charani, who previously reconciled with Nwoko after a brief separation in 2022, had largely remained quiet on family matters until now. Her new revelations appear to deepen the already tense situation within the high-profile polygamous family.
