Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Dajoh, has said he has “moved on” after his sudden resignation, emphasizing reconciliation and stability within the state’s political system.
Dajoh, who took office on June 5, 2023, resigned on August 24, 2025, amidst intense political pressure and speculation about an impeachment plot. His resignation triggered a swift leadership transition as Hon. Alfred Emberga, a once-suspended lawmaker, was immediately sworn in as the new Speaker.
Taking to his official Facebook page on Monday, Dajoh offered words of appreciation and reflection. “It’s no longer news that I turned in a resignation letter as the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, yesterday being the 24th day of August, 2025. And I have moved on,” he wrote.
He thanked his constituents of Gboko West (Gbemacha), his colleagues in the Assembly, and the state governor for their unwavering support. “My heartfelt appreciation also goes to the governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia for his support from the beginning of my being the speaker to my exit,” he said.
The outgoing Speaker further acknowledged Assembly staff and aides while dedicating special words to his wife, Kundumiyol Dajoh, whom he described as “the best example of a supportive wife.”
“Let there be peace and let’s move on. The journey is still ahead,” Dajoh concluded in his farewell message.
Frontpagenews.ng reports that Governor Alia has since congratulated Alfred Emberga on his emergence as the new Speaker, commending the Assembly for ensuring a seamless transition.
