Addressing the Challenges of Childhood Cancer in Nigeria

Childhood cancer remains a significant public health challenge in Nigeria, with many families struggling to afford the high cost of treatment. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), childhood cancer is one of the leading causes of death among children globally, and the situation is particularly dire in low- and middle-income countries like Nigeria. Limited access to specialized care, inadequate funding for research, and a lack of awareness about the disease are some of the key barriers to improving outcomes for childhood cancer patients.

The donation by Prudential Zenith Life Insurance and the Dorcas Cancer Foundation is a step toward addressing these challenges.
