The Lagos State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed a fatal accident involving multiple vehicles on the Kara Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in one casualty. The incident, reported by Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, occurred early Thursday morning, with FRSC teams reaching the site shortly after.
According to Hamzat, the crash involved a White Volvo Truck (Reg. No: FKJ 484 YA), a White Toyota Hummer Bus (Reg. No: BWR 372 XC), a Benz Bus (Reg. No: GNL 630 XC), and an unregistered Black Boxer Motorcycle. Initial investigations suggest that speeding, wrongful overtaking, and loss of control were key factors contributing to the accident.
FRSC personnel collaborated with the police and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to secure the scene and manage traffic flow. A good Samaritan assisted in transporting an injured victim to the hospital, while the deceased was handled with due respect.
Commander Hamzat expressed deep condolences over the loss, stressing the importance of vigilance and safe driving practices. He urged drivers to adhere to speed limits, avoid reckless overtaking, and prioritize safe driving, emphasizing that road safety is a shared responsibility.
“This tragic incident underscores the urgent need for caution and cooperation from all road users,†Hamzat said, reinforcing the FRSC’s commitment to making roads safer and preventing future tragedies.
