Four seconds Nigerians commanded attention during the 2022 BET Awards.

In four exciting moments, Nigerian artists stole the show at the 2022 BET Awards ceremony, which honors Black excellence in music, culture, and sports. From historic awards to electrifying performances, Nigerian artists made the nation proud at the event, which is regarded as the biggest recognition in Black entertainment globally. It was a night of pride for Nigerians at the 2022 Black Entertainment Television Awards ceremony, which was held on Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Best International Act goes to Tems.
Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems, is a singer who made history by becoming the first female Nigerian artist to win the coveted Best International Act award.
To win the prize, the gifted vocalist defeated Fireboy from Nigeria, Dave from the UK, Dinos from France, Fally Ipupa from the Congo, Little Simz from the UK, Ludmilla from Brazil, Major League Djz from South Africa, and Tayc from France.
After accepting the prize, Tems encouraged women and girls to stick with their chosen careers, saying that their efforts would eventually pay off.
Other Nigerian musicians that have previously received the honor include Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, D’banj, Ice Prince, and 2Baba.

Wizkid wins Best Collaboration for “Essence.”
Wizkid’s song “Essence,” which included Tems and Justin Bieber, won the Best Collaboration award as well, giving the gifted female singer a double victory.
The songs “Every Change I Get” by DJ Khaled featuring Lil Baby and Lil Durk, “Family Ties” by Baby Seem featuring Kendrick Lamar, “Whole Lotta” by Bia featuring Nicki Minaj, “Way 2 Sexy” by Drake featuring Future and Young Thug, and “Kiss me More” by Doja Cat featuring SZA were the competitors for Essence’s nomination.
August 2021 saw Beiber join Tems and Wizkid in the “Essence” remix.

Fireboy plays during the main event.
Sunday night’s awards ceremony in Los Angeles featured an exciting performance by singer Fireboy, which delighted the spectators.
He performed a stand-alone song among internationally recognized artists such as Diddy, Lil Wayne, Roddy Rich, and many more, leaving the audience applauding.
Fans have been celebrating Fireboy on Twitter after his performances of “Playboy” and “Peru” during the concert. Fireboy is contracted to YBNL.

Pre-show performances by Pheelz
Pheelz, a Nigerian artist and producer, was the star of the BET Awards pre-show outdoor event on Sunday night before the main broadcast.
During the pre-show, Pheelz performed his hit song Finesse for the enthusiastic audience.
Pheelz tweeted, “About to be the first international artist to perform at the BET pre-show,” in order to announce his historic performance. Yes, I’m quite excited.
Celebrities and fans from Nigeria have praised Tems, Wizkid, Fireboy, and Pheelz for bringing “Afrobeats to the world” and congratulated them on their remarkable victories and performances on a number of social media sites.
