Operations at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, were temporarily suspended on Thursday following an incident involving a private jet during landing. The Gulfstream 400 jet, registered as 5N-PZE, was arriving from Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, when the issue occurred.
The aircraft, carrying 14 passengers and four crew members, reportedly touched down at 2:16 pm before experiencing the mishap, prompting immediate emergency response and a temporary runway closure. Aviation officials have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
A source familiar with the matter told reporters that while the exact reason for the jet’s trouble is yet to be established, all relevant authorities have been alerted. Meanwhile, Mr. Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), confirmed awareness of the situation.
In a separate transportation disruption, passengers on the Abuja–Kaduna train service faced unexpected delays on Thursday due to a mechanical fault. The train, which departed Rigasa station shortly after 2 pm, halted midway through its journey before reversing back to Kaduna for repairs.
