FG Urges Calm After Donald Trump’s Threat of Military Strike on Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has called on citizens to remain calm following threats by former United States President Donald Trump to launch a military strike against Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.

According to reports, Trump warned that the U.S. would take military action if the Nigerian government failed to curb what he described as “Christian genocide” in parts of the country.

His statement has sparked widespread debate and tension among Nigerians, both at home and abroad.

Reacting to the development, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, assured Nigerians that the situation is under control and that the government is actively working to maintain diplomatic stability.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to Governor Umar A. Namadi in Dutse, Jigawa State, the minister urged the public to remain composed despite the heated rhetoric coming from the U.S.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has all it takes to safeguard Nigeria from destabilising elements and to repair any cracks in our nation’s relations with international allies,” Idris said. “Nigerians should, therefore, remain calm and confident in the government’s ability to handle this matter.”

Idris is currently in Jigawa to attend the North West 2025 Youth Parley and the Presentation of President Tinubu’s Achievements after two years in office.

Trump’s remarks have stirred anxiety among citizens, with many interpreting his words as a direct threat of military action.
