The Federal Government has released the shortlist of successful applicants for the upcoming recruitment test into the nation’s paramilitary services under the Ministry of Interior.
The announcement, made on Wednesday by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), marks a major step forward in the government’s ongoing recruitment drive aimed at strengthening internal security and public safety operations across the country.
Agencies Involved
The shortlist covers four key agencies under the Interior Ministry:
* Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
* Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS)
* Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS)
* Federal Fire Service (FFS)
Candidates whose names appear on the list are expected to proceed to the next phase of the recruitment process, which includes a computer-based test (CBT) and subsequent physical and credential screening exercises.
Government Reassures Transparency
The CDCFIB emphasized that the recruitment process remains free, merit-based and transparent, warning applicants to disregard anyone demanding payment or claiming influence over the outcome.
“We are committed to fairness and transparency. Applicants are advised to check their status only through the official recruitment portal and ignore fraudulent messages circulating on social media,” a statement from the Board read.
The Board also urged candidates to print their invitation slips and come prepared with valid identification and original credentials once the screening dates are announced.
A Boost for National Security
The recruitment is part of a wider federal effort to expand Nigeria’s internal security workforce. With rising demand for personnel across border control, correctional management, emergency response, and public protection, the initiative is expected to enhance operational capacity nationwide.
Observers note that the exercise—one of the largest in recent years—comes amid renewed federal attention on youth employment and institutional reform within the security sector.
What’s Ahead
Shortlisted candidates can now confirm their selection through the official portal and are advised to regularly monitor official channels for test schedules and venue details.
Non-shortlisted applicants are encouraged to await further public updates from the Board.
Public Advisory
Authorities again cautioned Nigerians against fake websites and recruitment agents posing as intermediaries.

“No applicant should pay money to anyone for recruitment purposes. The only authentic information will be shared through the CDCFIB’s official communication platforms,” the Board reiterated.
What To Expect
With the shortlist released, attention now turns to the conduct of the recruitment test, expected in the coming weeks. Transparency, logistics and fairness will be under close public scrutiny as thousands of hopefuls advance to the next stage.
If successfully executed, the process could not only reinforce Nigeria’s paramilitary strength but also restore public confidence in large-scale government recruitment exercises.
