The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has directed all public senior secondary schools within Abuja to shut down operations no later than Friday, November 28, in response to escalating security concerns across the capital.
The instruction was outlined in an internal circular issued on Tuesday by Aishatu Sani Alhassan, Director of School Services at the FCT Secondary Education Board. Addressed to principals and school heads, the memo emphasized that academic activities must be suspended promptly and that the dismissal of students should be carried out in an orderly and secure manner.
According to the directive, schools are expected to immediately inform students, staff, and parents about the sudden closure to ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruptions.

The memo also noted that all ongoing or planned academic programmes should be rescheduled in line with the shutdown order. Institutions are expected to reopen on the next official school day unless further instructions are provided by the administration.
More updates are anticipated as the situation develops.
