The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully rescued a five-year-old girl, Miracle Yakubu, and arrested a 46-year-old man, Nawaisi Abdullahi, in connection with her abduction. The swift intervention of police operatives and local vigilantes ensured the child’s safe return to her family.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred on Sunday, January 19, 2025, around 10:00 AM. Operatives from the Utako Police Division, working alongside local vigilantes, responded to a distress call about a suspicious man seen walking with a young girl along the Mobil Filling Station near Jabi Expressway.

Upon interception, the suspect was identified as Nawaisi Abdullahi, who had taken the child without the consent of her mother, a local bean cake (akara) vendor in Utako Village.

Police Investigation and Rescue

A preliminary investigation revealed that Abdullahi was heading toward an unknown destination with the child. The police quickly secured Miracle and reunited her with her family. The suspect was immediately taken into custody for further questioning.

In a press release issued on Monday, the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, stating:
“The safety and security of all residents remain our top priority. The swift response of our officers and the collaboration of local vigilantes were instrumental in ensuring the safe return of the child.”
