The family of Opral Benson, the revered Iya Oge of Lagos, has raised the alarm over her disappearance, announcing that she has been missing for more than 48 hours.
In a statement released on Sunday, the family said Benson was last seen on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, and has not returned home since then. Her whereabouts, they noted, remain unknown.
Describing the situation as critical, the family appealed to the public for help, urging anyone with information to come forward immediately.
“Mama Opral Benson has been missing since Tuesday, January 13, 2026. She has not returned home, and her current location is unknown,” the statement read.
“Anyone who may have seen her or has any information at all is strongly encouraged to contact us without delay.
“Please call 08037039214 or report to the nearest police station. This is urgent. Kindly share widely.”

Born on February 7, 1935, Opral Benson is an American-Liberian and Nigerian businesswoman and socialite, widely respected for her contributions to education, fashion, and corporate administration. She holds the traditional chieftaincy title of Iya Oge of Lagos.
She was married to the late T.O.S. Benson from 1962 until his passing. Over the decades, she has served as a university administrator, directed operations at Johnson’s Products—Nigeria’s affiliate of the global brand—and currently oversees a fashion and beauty school in Lagos. In 2012, she was also appointed Honorary Consul of Liberia in Lagos.

The family has again called on members of the public to circulate the missing-person notice as widely as possible, emphasizing that even the smallest piece of information could be vital in helping locate her.
