Former Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi has passed away.
Reports obtained by newsmen indicate that the former lawmaker died on Friday morning. The news was officially confirmed by the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, who described the loss as deeply painful.
In a condolence message released through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori lamented the death of the former senator who represented Delta North Senatorial District, noting that his passing is a significant blow to Delta State, the Anioma people, and the nation as a whole.
The governor hailed Nwaoboshi as a devoted son of Delta State and a fearless advocate for the Anioma cause, whose impact on Nigeria’s political landscape would not be forgotten. He recalled the late senator’s influential role in the National Assembly, particularly his tenure as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, where he consistently championed development in the Niger Delta and Delta State.
Oborevwori also highlighted Nwaoboshi’s strong political foundation, describing his rise as one built on dedication, integrity, and commitment to democratic ideals.
He noted that these qualities were evident during his service as a two-time Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, where he played a key role in strengthening the party.
Expressing his personal grief, the governor said:
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi.”

He extended condolences to the late senator’s family, the Anioma nation, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and all those whose lives were impacted by him, praying for God’s comfort and strength for them during this difficult time.
Governor Oborevwori concluded by asking God to grant the former senator eternal rest and to give his loved ones the courage to bear the loss.
