Nigerian Afrobeats artist Oluwatosin Ajibade, better known as Mr. Eazi, has unveiled a new experimental plan allowing fans and investors to buy shares in his music. He shared the news on social media, announcing that investors will be able to own a percentage of his songs and earn a portion of the streaming revenue.
Mr. Eazi explained, “I’m trying out an experiment with my next release where fans can buy shares in my song. This means you’ll own a part of the song and earn money as it streams. Since 2016, I’ve been one of the top 5 most streamed African artists, all thanks to my fans. Now, it’s time to get you involved on the equity side.”
He added, “Imagine owning a share of my last song with Nicki Minaj or my new track ‘LENTO’ with J Balvin! As you stream and help make it a hit, some of the money comes back to you. Most importantly, you’ll be a real part of the global success you helped create.”
This initiative could provide Nigerian investors with a new way to invest in the entertainment industry and earn revenue in foreign currency, making music investments more accessible. Mr. Eazi also highlighted his consistent presence in the top 5 most streamed African artists since 2016.
