Winner of the Nigeria Prize for Literature and multiple award-winning director Jude Idada will debut his feature film “Kofa” during the 11th Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), which takes place from November 6–11, 2022, at the Landmark Events Centre, Oniru, Lagos.

In the psychological thriller Kofa, eight people wake up to discover they are imprisoned in a room while still in their underpants. Their names are all they can recall. They try to recall their identities, locations, and reasons for being there while an armed guy approaches them one by one in an attempt to organize an escape.

“Kofa is a cinematic tour de force,” says Jude Idada when discussing the movie. Since Kofa is Hausa for “door,” the movie is a metaphor for the closed doors we frequently come across in life and the lengths we will go to in order to open them, even when the odds are stacked against us. It uses a running clock, semi-nakedness, gun violence, amnesia, entrapment, suspicion, scheming, death, and a surprise twist that builds to an explosive finale.

Daniel Etim Effiong, Kate Henshaw, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Beverly Naya, Zainab Balogun, Enyinna Nwigwe, Shawn Faqua, Charles Etubiebi, Gina Castel, Udoka Oyeka, Bucci Franklin, Lucy Ameh, Carol King, Afeez Oyetoro, Achalugo Chioma Ilozumba, Paul Utomi, Femi Olayiwole, Folu Ogunkoya, Kiki Omelli, Wale Ojo, Eucharia Okoye, Kola “Aderopoko” Olaiya, and a host of other celebrities included.

Jude Idada wrote, produced, and directed the film, which was a ThinkingMan Media production in collaboration with Creoternity Films and C-Blunt Films. Femi Ogunsanwo and Chibuzo Okoye served as the producing team. Kagho Idhebor handled the cinematography, Kazeem Idris handled the editing, Ola’Kazeem Agboola handled the coloring, Ava Momoh composed the captivating score, and George Flores handled the sound mix and design. Accompanying an award-winning team was production consultant Steve Sodiya, a legendary figure in the film industry.
