The recent 15th Headies Award held in Atlanta, USA, became a hot topic, particularly with singer Buju winning the coveted Next Rated category, along with a 2022 Bentley Bentayga as his prize.

The event, which featured attendees like Lagos State Governor Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, faced backlash on social media from critics who questioned the decision to host the awards outside Nigeria for the first time, given its long history of being held in the country.

The organizers explained that Atlanta was chosen for its status as an entertainment hub, noting that the event had successfully taken place in Nigeria 14 times.

After receiving the award, BNXN (Buju) expressed gratitude, crediting his team and loyal fans for his success. He also humorously requested that Governor Sanwo-Olu cover the shipping costs for his Bentley to Lagos.

He dedicated his award to his late mother and acknowledged fellow nominees, including Ruger, Ayra Starr, Zinoleesky, and Lojay.
