George Washington University (GWU) has appointed Nigerian-American sportswoman Ganiyat Adeduntan as the head coach of its women’s basketball team. This comes after Adeduntan’s successful tenure at Colgate University, where she coached the women’s basketball team from 2021 to 2025.

Achievements at Colgate University

During her time at Colgate, Adeduntan achieved remarkable success. She led the team to back-to-back 20-victory seasons, with the team setting a school record of 23 wins in the 2024/2025 season. Her coaching prowess helped elevate the team’s performance and contributed to Colgate’s growing basketball reputation.

Coaching Experience and Previous Role at GWU

Before her role as the head coach at Colgate, Adeduntan served as an assistant coach at George Washington University from 2017 to 2021. During her time there, she was instrumental in leading the team to an Atlantic 10 Conference championship and a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament appearance in 2018.
