The Sunshine Queens of Akure, Elizabeth Johnson’s club in the Nigerian Women’s Football League, have confirmed her death.

Femi Atolagbe, the club’s media officer, said in a statement that the deceased worked out with her teammates on Friday, March 18, 2022.

On Saturday, March 19, 2022, she complained of a fever and dizziness and was sent to the hospital for treatment. She tragically surrendered the spirit in the hospital.

The goalkeeper’s unexpected death has left the NWFL Club, who were held to a draw on Matchday 11 of the current football season, in shock and mourning.
