The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja Zonal Directorate, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, brought the Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Dickson Akon, and the organisation’s Director of Finance, Omolala Aminat Ahmed, before Justice H. B. Yusuf of the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
The duo is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on criminal misappropriation of funds reportedly allocated for the supply of official badges.
According to the first count, the EFCC alleges that Akon and Ahmed conspired in 2024 to commit an illegal act—criminal misappropriation—an offence said to contravene Section 96 of the Penal Code applicable in the FCT.
The second charge accuses the defendants of dishonestly diverting ₦46 million out of a ₦60 million contract sum earmarked for the procurement of badges for the Corps.
When the charges were read, both Akon and Ahmed entered a plea of not guilty.
Following their arraignment, prosecution counsel Khalid Sanusi urged the court to set a date for the commencement of trial.
