The Dangote Group, Africa’s leading conglomerate, has reinforced its commitment to technology by implementing digital solutions to enhance efficiency and streamline operations across its various industries. This transformation is part of the company’s broader strategy to maintain its leadership position in key sectors such as cement, sugar, salt, fertiliser, petrochemicals, and agriculture.
Digitalisation at the Core of Dangote’s Operations
Speaking at the 46th Kaduna International Trade Fair, Fatima Abdurrahman, Senior Advisor to the President of Dangote Group, highlighted how the company’s digitalisation initiatives have significantly improved manufacturing and sales processes.
“As some of you may be aware, we have since digitised our manufacturing and sales processes through the deployment of automated and smart systems, particularly in our cement plants,” she stated.
According to Abdurrahman, the integration of advanced technology across the company’s operations has reduced process completion times from days to minutes, greatly improving overall productivity.
“The integrated advanced technology adopted in all our operations—cement, sugar, salt, fertiliser, petrochemicals, and agriculture—has made us leaders in all sectors where we operate,” she added.
The DMS Application: Enhancing Customer Access
To further enhance efficiency, Dangote Group has introduced the DMS Application, a digital ordering platform available on both Android and iOS. This platform simplifies the ordering process for registered customers in the cement, sugar, and salt sectors, ensuring seamless transactions and improved customer experience.
Technological Advancements in Automotive Manufacturing
Beyond its core industrial sectors, the Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (DPAN) plant has also leveraged advanced technology to enhance production. According to Abdurrahman, the DPAN facility has achieved a daily production capacity of 120 vehicles and an annual output of 44,000 units.
“By assembling globally renowned Peugeot models—such as the Landtrek pickup, 3008, 5008, and 508 GT—DPAN fosters trade by reducing import dependency and providing locally assembled vehicles at competitive prices,” she explained.
Recognition for Economic Contributions
The Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) has commended Dangote Group for its job creation initiatives and its continued partnership with the Chamber.
Ishaya Idi, President of KADCCIMA, praised the company’s contributions to Nigeria’s economic development and encouraged Nigerians to support the conglomerate.
“The Kaduna Trade Fair provides an opportunity for enhanced interaction between the Chamber and the Dangote Group,” he said.
Government Acknowledgment and Endorsement
The event also saw commendations from the Federal Government, as Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, represented by Dr Dafang Sale, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, acknowledged Dangote’s impact on national economic development.
Similarly, Usman Saulawa, Director-General of KADCCIMA, described Dangote Group as a key driver of the Nigerian economy, stating:
“The company has not only made a significant positive impact on the business community in Kaduna State but has also contributed immensely to the growth of both the Nigerian and global economy.”
Strengthening Collaboration for Economic Growth
Saulawa also highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the Kaduna State Government, Dangote Group, and other companies, describing it as a key advantage of this year’s trade fair. The partnership aims to foster business growth, drive industrial development, and promote trade across various sectors.
