Before President Muhammadu Buhari presents the 2022 appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly, normal business operations inside and outside the National Assembly complex have been suspended.
Since Wednesday morning, it has been noted that the Security Forces, which are made up of military and paramilitary personnel, have occupied key areas both inside and outside the Assembly premises. Employees and other visitors have been advised to stay away from the area, with the exception of those who are on necessary tasks and have been properly authorized by the National Assembly Clerk’s office.
The President is now presenting the 2022 budget to the lawmakers in the House of Representatives Chamber for their consideration after arriving at the Complex at approximately 12:05 p.m.
Due to the ongoing insecurity in the nation, it was noted that banks, restaurants, and other offices inside the complex were closed, and employees were encouraged to refrain from working as part of the yearly custom.
The entire Three Arms Zone, which includes the National Assembly, the Presidential Villa, Also Rock, the Supreme Court, the Federal Secretariat, and the well-known Eagle Square, was completely closed to both human and vehicle traffic as of the time of this report. This indicates that security is usually impenetrable.
