Nollywood actress Judy Austin has shared a heartfelt message to young women, urging them to take their time before getting married and ensure they are mentally and emotionally prepared for the journey.
Speaking from personal experience in a video posted on her Instagram page, the actress cautioned against rushing into marriage or tying the knot solely because of pregnancy — a decision she says often leads to lifelong regret.
“Don’t get married because you’re pregnant,” Judy advised. “Ask yourself if you can truly spend the rest of your life with that person. Marriage requires mental and emotional readiness.”
Austin explained that marriage comes with immense responsibilities that go beyond love or physical attraction.
According to her, being emotionally mature and self-aware are key factors in sustaining a happy and stable union.
She encouraged young women to prioritize **personal growth, independence, and faith in God** before settling down. She also emphasized the importance of learning about people, dating wisely, and building self-reliance through work and discipline.
Reflecting on the realities of early marriages, Judy Austin noted that many women who marry too young end up facing divorce or the heavy burden of single motherhood. She added that the emotional and financial pressures of early marriage have caused many women deep pain — with some even disappearing from public life after childbirth.
“So many women have suffered because they went into marriage unprepared,” she said. “Focus on yourself, work hard, and grow before you take that step.”
