Dangote Refinery Slashes Petrol Prices Ahead of Yuletide, Boosting Affordability

Dangote Refinery Naira Sale Suspension: 5 Deadly Implications for Small Businesses

In a move set to ease fuel costs for Nigerians this festive season, Dangote Refinery has announced a significant reduction in petrol prices.

As of Friday, checks on PetroleumPriceNG revealed that the refinery’s ex-depot price has fallen to ₦699 per litre, down from ₦828 per litre—a drop of ₦129, or roughly 15.6%.

This latest adjustment marks the 20th petrol price review by the refinery this year, reflecting its ongoing efforts to make domestic fuel more affordable and competitive with imported petrol.

Aliko Dangote, founder and CEO of Dangote Group, emphasized that the refinery remains committed to price stability despite the volatility of global crude oil markets.

Speaking after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock on Monday, Dangote highlighted that the reductions are strategic, aimed at keeping domestic fuel prices in line with market realities.

“Prices are coming down because we need to remain competitive with imported fuel,” Dangote explained, reaffirming the refinery’s pledge to continuously adjust prices in favor of consumers.

The recent price cuts follow an earlier adjustment on November 6, 2025, when the gantry price of petrol was lowered from ₦877 to ₦828 per litre—a 5.6% decrease. Coastal prices were also reduced from ₦854 to ₦806 per litre.

Despite the aggressive price reductions, Dangote acknowledged that fuel smuggling remains a persistent challenge for the industry.

With the yuletide season approaching, Nigerians are likely to benefit from these lower fuel costs, potentially easing the financial burden during the holidays.
