The 2022 Akwa Ibom Carols Festival is set for Friday, December 16, 2022, in Uyo, the state capital. Over 50,000 attendees are anticipated, both domestically and abroad.
While speaking with a few journalists near the event site on Wednesday, Mr. Raphael Edem, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, revealed this.
According to him, the annual event, which has been held since 2008, has increased the state’s potential for tourism while simultaneously attempting to place the state on the global travel map.
With over 5000 reputable choirs from across the globe and internationally famous gospel artists, the Akwa Ibom Carols Festival, which has been going on for more than ten years, will showcase top gospel artists from Nigeria and other nations.
Speaking at the Ibom Hall Ground, the event’s location in Uyo, the state capital, Edem stated that many of the city’s hotel rooms have already been reserved in full by anticipated attendees prior to the festival.
Edem stated that the state administration has finalized all the preparations to have one of the greatest festivals ever, and that innovative approaches to enhancing the annual occasion have been investigated in order to provide an inspirational carol festival of music and song.
He claims that extra escape doors and top-notch safety and medical emergency preparations have been completed, and that special broadcast equipment has been supplied for a flawless festival broadcast to a global audience.
In addition to the red carpet area designated for interviews and photo ops, he said, a dedicated tunnel has been built to facilitate easy access to the site, and special marshals will greet guests as they arrive, with a big screen showing the Christmas image.
He revealed that numerous organizations, such as banks and airlines, were sponsoring the festival. He also mentioned that the event had the potential to bring in money for the state because choral groups from other countries had written to the state government to request participation in the festival.
Speaking at the event was Aniekpeno Mkpanang, a specialist in tourism promotion, who praised media professionals and journalists for their contributions to the advancement of society and advised them to conduct themselves with a high degree of professionalism.
The 2022 Akwa Ibom Carol Festival is expected to draw over 50,000 tourists.
