Tragedy in Kaduna: Lightning Strike Kills Young Herder and 12 Cows

The Matuak Giwa community in Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State is in mourning after a devastating lightning strike on Sunday claimed the life of a young herder and 12 of his cows.

The Village Head of Matuak Giwa, Simon Ayuba, confirmed the incident on Monday, describing it as a tragic and shocking event. According to him, the herder had sought shelter from the heavy rain alongside his cattle when the thunderstrike hit, killing them instantly.

“The herder, along with 12 cows, died on the spot. It was a tragic occurrence that has left the community in shock,” Ayuba said.

Community Leaders Mourn the Loss

The Ardo of Bondon District, Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, also verified the tragic event and revealed that the deceased herder was originally from Bauchi State.

Tanko expressed deep sorrow over the loss and urged community members to offer prayers and support to the bereaved family.

Victim Laid to Rest, Community in Shock

In accordance with Islamic burial rites, the young herder was laid to rest shortly after the incident. His sudden and untimely death has left his family grappling with the heartbreaking loss.

Reports indicate that the Matuak Giwa community is still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy. Support from neighbors and well-wishers has been pouring in, offering solace to the grieving family.

A Stark Reminder of Nature’s Unpredictability
