Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt with his family and security detail. Fubara reportedly left the seat of power on Wednesday morning, according to a source close to the situation. The source, who spoke anonymously, was not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.

Security Presence at Government House

Despite Fubara’s departure, security at the Government House remains minimal. Two Armoured Personnel Carriers, which were seen on Tuesday night, are still stationed outside the premises. A small group of security operatives remains on site, but the usual security presence appears to be reduced.

Normal Activities Continue in Port Harcourt

As of the latest update, normal activities continue in Port Harcourt and its surrounding areas. There have been no reports of disruptions in the city following the Governor’s departure.

Vice Admiral Ibas Yet to Assume Office

The newly appointed Administrator for Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.), has not yet assumed office as of 12:50 p.m. Wednesday. Ibas was appointed by President Bola Tinubu to oversee the state for the next six months. Our correspondent observed that preparations were underway for his arrival at the Government House. Approximately 15 soldiers were seen inside the premises in anticipation of his expected arrival.
