Gunmen have brutally murdered Esther Osaze, a young real estate agent abducted during a site inspection in Ibusa, Delta State.
They kidnapped her on Monday, March 24, 2025, and dumped her dead body along a bush path on Tuesday evening.
The shocking incident has sparked widespread anger, especially from young Nigerians who see her death as avoidable and heartbreaking.
Attack Occurred During a Routine Property Visit
Esther had gone with three colleagues to inspect a parcel of land near Nigeria Admiralty University in Ibusa.
While on-site, a group of armed men ambushed them without warning and began firing shots at their vehicle.
The gunfire forced them to scatter. Esther’s colleagues escaped. However, the gunmen grabbed her and fled the scene immediately.
Residents discovered her corpse blindfolded and bruised. They found it on a bush path within the same Ibusa area.
A local eyewitness told FRONTPAGE, “They shot at the car. Everyone ran. The gunmen took her. We later found her body abandoned.”
Esther Chose Real Estate After Her Job Hunt Failed
Esther had completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in 2024 and searched for work in multiple companies.
She applied to banks and other organizations but received no offer. So, she turned to real estate to survive.
Friends described her as hardworking, optimistic, and focused on building a better life despite the challenges of unemployment.
“She started real estate out of necessity,” a family friend said. “She was trying to build something. This shouldn’t be her end.”
Police Confirm the Murder and Begin Investigating
Delta State Police spokesperson Bright Edafe confirmed the killing and the recovery of Esther’s body on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
He said, “Yes, she was killed. Her body was dumped on the road. We’ve taken it to the morgue.”
According to him, the police have launched a full investigation to identify and arrest the suspects responsible for her murder.
As of now, police have not announced any arrests. They have not released further details about the suspects or motives.
Her Death Highlights Rising Risks in Real Estate
Esther’s murder has exposed the growing danger that real estate agents face while inspecting properties in isolated locations.
Over the past few years, kidnappers have increasingly used site visits to lure agents, surveyors, and even prospective buyers.
In 2022, kidnappers abducted a male realtor in Warri during a land tour. His family paid ransom to secure his release.
In 2023, two surveyors in Asaba narrowly escaped a similar ambush while inspecting an undeveloped site.
These cases show that many real estate workers remain exposed to serious threats in the field.
Public Demands Justice for Esther and Reform in Safety Practices
After news of Esther’s death spread online, Nigerians reacted with outrage. They demanded justice and accountability from law enforcement.
Thousands posted messages using the hashtag #JusticeForEstherOsaze, calling for swift arrests and stronger protection for real estate professionals.
Some users urged real estate firms to stop sending agents to remote locations without security escorts or police support.
Others asked government officials to set regulations that protect workers conducting on-site inspections across the country.
Her Life Represented Hope, Her Death Demands Action
Esther Osaze symbolized the courage of many Nigerian youths who fight daily to make an honest living against all odds.
She did not give up after rejection. Instead, she chose to work, to learn, and to grow her career independently.
Now, her tragic death leaves her family broken, her friends shaken, and her country in mourning.
As the police continue their investigation, many Nigerians are demanding not only arrests—but long-term changes to stop similar tragedies.
