The Ogun State Police Command has begun a thorough investigation into the sudden and mysterious death of Mr. Adedokun Oluyemi, who worked as the supervisor of Solution One Hotel in the Ago Oko area of Abeokuta. This tragic incident has raised fresh concerns about employee health and safety in hospitality establishments across the state.
Bar Staff Discovered the Body Early Saturday Morning
At around 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2025, a staff member found Mr. Oluyemi unresponsive inside his hotel room. The employee, a bar assistant named Taiyelolu, attempted multiple times to reach the supervisor. After receiving no answer, she reportedly grew concerned.
Eventually, she forced the door open and discovered Mr. Oluyemi lying motionless on the bed. She immediately contacted officers at the Oke Itoku Police Division for assistance.
No Signs of Violence Observed at the Scene
Police officers quickly arrived at the hotel after receiving the report. According to the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the responding officers did not observe any visible signs of violence on the deceased’s body.
She explained that police emergency services, acting through the divisional police officer, moved swiftly to transport the man to the State Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta. However, despite medical attention, the hospital pronounced Mr. Oluyemi dead shortly after arrival.
Autopsy to Determine Exact Cause of Death
Authorities have since transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further examination. Investigators aim to uncover the exact cause of death, especially given the absence of external injuries.
The police deposited Mr. Oluyemi’s body at the State Hospital mortuary, where a full autopsy will be conducted. According to Odutola, the results of the post-mortem will guide the next phase of the investigation.
Support for Family and Calls for Staff Medical Screening
In her statement, Odutola emphasized that the police are working to notify the deceased’s family and will provide support during this difficult time. She also extended the command’s condolences to both his family and colleagues.
She urged businesses to invest in medical insurance for staff and conduct regular health screenings. According to her, this case underscores the importance of prioritizing employee well-being in the workplace.
Incident Mirrors Similar Death Earlier in March
This latest development echoes a comparable incident reported by FRONTPAGE (formerly FRONTPAGE Online) on March 7, 2025. In that case, a 62-year-old hotel worker named Abel Johnson was found dead inside his room at De-Lay Classic Hotel, located in Kajola Village, near Obafe Town.
Like Oluyemi, Johnson had last been seen the night before his body was found. Authorities launched an investigation but have not yet released official findings.
Conclusion: Ongoing Investigations and Public Health Concerns
As the police continue their inquiry, residents and business owners are urged to remain vigilant. While no foul play has been established so far in either case, the back-to-back incidents highlight potential health risks for hospitality workers who often work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
The Ogun State Police Command has promised to share the autopsy results once available. In the meantime, the state remains on alert, and conversations around workplace health, especially in high-demand sectors like hospitality, are gaining renewed urgency.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available from police authorities and the autopsy report.
